This is the thinner of the two rubber grass mats available and is great for use in gardens and children play areas.

Having been officially tested to a critical fall height of 1 metre, out 16mm mats are not only a great form of grass protection but also a brilliant way to make hard ground more child friendly.

The structure of the mats ensures effective drainage of any surface water as they maintain the ground’s natural drainage routes, which consequently reduces the risk of flooding. As well as this, the composition of the mats means that once laid, and grass is able to grow through, the ground’s natural appearance is regained and grass can be treated completely a normal.

Considered one of the most durable and affordable forms of safety matting, it’s certainly a product that should be considered if safety is your aim. Please remember though, because of its low fall height, we would only recommend it for use for low level play. If you’re looking for a product suitable for use around higher playground equipment, please take a look at our 23mm GrassMats.

It must be noted that rubber grass mats are a functional product which is designed to provide a solution which allows grass to be fortified. Holes in the mats are sometimes imperfect in their shape and may not be wholly central to the cell in which they sit, however this does not undermine the structural or functional integrity of the mat, nor does it impede the grass from growing through and therefore any mat with imperfect perforations will not be deemed as faulty or unfit for purpose.
